College Jolt

Wanna take a walk down memory lane and see how much campus life hasn’t changed? Check out the unofficial web sites of nearly 100 colleges listed at The Daily Jolt.

The Daily Jolt offers students a free template and Web hosting service for creating an information site independent of a school's administration. The template includes basic features like dining guides, job listings and discussion forums. But things get really interesting when students take the template and run with it. For instance, the Jolt staff at the University of Connecticut posts party pictures while the University of Pennsylvania version features personals and course evaluations.

And when the Trinity College site came under fire for comments made there about the school's president, faculty members helped to lead the site's defense. On the other hand, professors are occasionally jolted by the course evaluations that students submit.
